What determines the prices of JDM engines?
Demand. Several years ago Japanese scrap yard owners did not know the full value and popularity of Honda DOHC VTEC motors and because of this prices were lower. When more and more people started buying performance engines, prices started to climb. The prices actually fluctuate yearly. The increase during the summer and decrease during the winter. So basically the prices fluctuate with the demand.

What is included in the price of each engine?
Each engine is bought at a different value. Then there are dismantling costs, shipping costs, border/customs fees and storage fees and since every business must make a profit in order to stay alive, there is a certain percentage of profit added to that cost.
